Roger Federer has beaten Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to set up an Australian Open final against Britain's Andy Murray. Federer reached his 22nd final at a Grand Slam tournament, extending his all-time record, with the 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 win on Friday night. The 28-year-old Swiss has won the Australian title three times among his record 15 major singles titles.

The head of the WTA wants changes to certain anti-doping rules, notably the stringent "whereabouts" rule that initially led to a one-year ban for Yanina Wickmayer. Wickmayer has appealed the ban and was allowed to play at the Australian Open and other tournaments while the appeal is pending in the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the European Commission.

While China's strong surge at the Australian Open ended in two semifinal losses, Li Na and Zheng Jie believe their performances will inspire a new generation of players. Li, who had an upset win over Venus Williams in the quarterfinals, fought hard against defending champion Serena Williams before losing 7-6 (4), 7-6 (1) on Thursday.

Justine Henin has advanced to the Australian Open final in her first Grand Slam tournament in two years, easily beating China's Zheng Jie 6-1, 6-0 in 51 minutes. Henin, returning to the tour after a 20-month retirement, last played in a major at the 2008 Australian Open, where she lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Maria Sharapova.

Serena Williams has advanced to her fifth Australian Open final after beating China's Li Na 7-6 (4), 7-6 (1), her 50th match win at Melbourne Park. Williams dominated the second-set tiebreaker, clinching the match with an ace, after the Chinese player had saved three match points in the 10th game and one in the 12th.

Serena Williams still gets butterflies from watching her big sister play. The Williams sisters had back-to-back quarterfinals at Rod Laver Arena at the Australian Open on Wednesday. Both were expected to win and pave the way for another Venus vs. Serena semifinal. This time it didn't work out that way.

Third-ranked Novak Djokovic has lost to Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in an Australian Open quarterfinal that reversed the result of their final here two years ago. The 10th-seeded Tsonga won 7-6, (8), 6-7 (5), 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the Wednesday night match. After his win in 2008, Djokovic has been eliminated in the quarterfinals two years in a row.

Rafael Nadal will undergo further medical scans in Spain to determine the severity of the knee injury that forced him out of the Australian Open. The second-ranked Nadal retired during his quarterfinal against Andy Murray after losing the first two sets and trailing in the third, complaining of discomfort in his right knee.
