French tennis player Richard Gasquet was cleared of any wrongdoing Thursday when the Court of Arbitration for Sport accepted his claim that he tested positive for cocaine by kissing a woman in a nightclub. The CAS dismissed appeals by the World Anti-Doping Agency and International Tennis Federation, which wanted Gasquet banned for up to two years.

U.S. Open semifinalist Yanina Wickmayer earned a major off-court victory Wednesday when officials lifted her one-year ban for violating anti-doping rules. The 20-year-old Belgian was banned in November for breaking World Anti-Doping Agency regulations by failing to report her whereabouts for drug testing three times.

A Belgian court Monday suspended the one-year doping bans given to tennis players Yanina Wickmayer and Xavier Malisse. Spain Davis Cup captain and former French Open winner Albert Costa was released from a hospital after experiencing heart problems on Thursday. The 34-year-old Costa was admitted to a hospital near Barcelona after complaining of heart palpitations, chest pains and hypertension, the Spanish tennis federation said.

The Spanish Supreme Court has ordered former top-ranked women's player Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario to pay back approximately $5.1 million in unpaid income tax. The court rejected Sanchez-Vicario's assertion that she was a resident of Andorra and not Spain from 1989 to 1993. CoCo Vandeweghe, the niece of New Jersey Nets GM and coach Kiki Vandeweghe, and Ryan Harrison have earned spots in the main draw of the 2010 Australian Open. Vandeweghe, of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Harrison, of Bradenton, Fla., won U.S. Tennis Association wild-card playoffs in Atlanta.
