Ana Ivanovic will rest for one to two weeks to recover from a thigh injury that forced her to quit her fourth-round Wimbledon match against Venus Williams. The French Open champion said on her Web site Tuesday she has a small muscle tear in her left thigh. She says the injury is very painful but not serious.

Top-ranked Rafael Nadal was left off Spain's team for the Davis Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday because of sore knees. Nadal has struggled with tendinitis in his knees, which forced him to skip defending his Wimbledon title. He has not played a tour match since losing in the fourth round at the French Open.

James Blake is joining Andy Roddick and the Bryan brothers on the U.S. Davis Cup team that will play Croatia in next month's quarterfinals. Novak Djokovic has defeated Dudi Sela in straight sets to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals. Djokovic won the last four games of the first set before completing a 6-2, 6-4, 6-1 win in 1 hour, 29 minutes. The fourth-seeded Serb broke Sela seven times. Djokovic set up his match point with an ace and converted it with another strong serve that Sela could only return into the net.

American 17-year-old Melanie Oudin (oo-DAN) has been eliminated in the fourth round at Wimbledon Oudin, a qualifier from Marietta, Ga., lost Monday to No. 11-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska (ag-nee-ESH-ka rad-VAN-ska), 6-4, 7-5. Missed chances hurt Oudin. She flubbed an easy volley to lose the first set, and she was up a break in the second set before her surprising Wimbledon came to an end.

Fourth-seeded Elena Dementieva has become the first player to reach the quarterfinals at Wimbledon after beating fellow Russian Elena Vesnina 6-1, 6-3. Dementieva faced little resistance in the first set Monday and never faced a break point in the match. Three-time Grand Slam champion Lindsay Davenport has given birth to her second child. The former No. 1-ranked player gave birth to a girl named Lauren Andrus Davenport Leach on Saturday morning. A 135 mph serve makes tiebreakers a little easier, and Andy Roddick won some important points with that one stroke Saturday at Wimbledon. Taking advantage of his big serve, Roddick won two tiebreakers and beat good friend Jurgen Melzer 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2), 4-6, 6-3 to reach the third round. Roddick improved to 22-3 this year in tiebreakers.

French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova has been eliminated in the third round at Wimbledon, losing 6-2, 7-5 to Sabine Lisicki of Germany. The 19-year-old Lisicki broke Kuznetsova five times Saturday to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career. The hard-serving German won 80 percent of points on her first serve on the quick surface.
