Defending champion Ana Ivanovic was most certainly not herself Sunday at the French Open. The exact cause remains a bit of a mystery. Maria Sharapova rallied again at the French Open on Sunday, moving into the quarterfinals by beating Li Na of China 4-6, 6-0, 6-4. Sharapova is making her return to Grand Slam tennis after almost a year off with a right shoulder injury. She lost the first set of her matches in the first and third rounds, and lost the middle set in the second round.

Andy Murray is in the French Open quarterfinals for the first time. The third-seeded Murray beat No. 13 Marin Cilic of Croatia 7-5, 7-6 (4), 6-1 on Sunday, giving the Briton the first four-match winning streak on clay in his career. Cilic was treated by a trainer for right leg problems in the third set after taking a tumble while chasing a lob.

David Nalbandian has begun to recover from recent hip surgery with the goal of returning to top-level tennis. The 15th-ranked Argentine had surgery on his right hip two weeks ago in Barcelona, Spain, and is recovering in his hometown of Unquillo, which is northwest of Buenos Aires. "We'll see how it goes," Nalbandian said at a news conference on Friday.
